Meet Louwis Venter, Executive General Manager of AI Innovation at Wild Tech. As he celebrates 5 years with Wild Tech, we sat down with Louwis to talk about his journey into AI, what drives him, and how he’s helping shape the future of innovation within the business.
I have a pretty unusual mix of hobbies! I play soccer two to three times a week, I love fishing, especially off my jet ski, and I’m really into strategy games (cards, chess etc). It’s a very mixed bag, but it matches my personality. I get bored easily, so having different hobbies means I get to wear a lot of different hats and keep things interesting.
Probably something like Fight Club meets Snatch, definitely more Edward Norton than Brad Pitt. A bit unconventional, a bit chaotic.

👍 Thumbs up
🍺 The beer emoji (especially on a Friday afternoon)
Best to ask them 🙃
I was married in Vegas!
Definitely a placie. When you travel, the food comes with it anyway! I love exploring new destinations/cultures/ways of life.

Either as a waiter or working in retail shop
My official title is Executive General Manager, AI and Innovation, but I wear many hats, and I enjoy that.
At the moment, my two biggest responsibilities are:
Not at all. As a kid, I thought I’d become a pilot. But then technology exploded, and I realised early on that nobody really knew anything, you just needed to know a little more than the next person to look like a genius.
That curiosity, combined with the constant evolution of tech, pulled me in.
Technology changes so fast that you never get bored.
In the early days, nothing worked, so when it finally did, it felt like solving a massive puzzle. That sense of achievement kept me hooked. And once one puzzle is solved, I immediately look for the next, bigger one.
Two things:
I get to live in both worlds, which keeps my work energising and meaningful.
Without question, AI.
The pace of advancement is unlike anything I’ve seen. Understanding its strengths, weaknesses, and the best way to apply it has been a massive but exciting learning curve.

In the very early days, we were all squeezed into our tiny office in Chifley Square. Everyone was hustling. Phones ringing, ideas flying, energy buzzing. I looked around and thought: “This thing has legs. This is going to take off.”
That moment really stuck with me.
Young, energetic, and willing to give things a go.
There’s no politics, no heavy hierarchy, and everyone has a voice. You’re trusted to explore different paths, wear different hats, and shape your own destiny. The culture is genuinely one of Wild Tech’s biggest assets.
We laugh, properly laugh. There is a “Work Hard. Play Hard” mentality creating a natural jovial energy.
Having a real voice.
I’m included in decisions, ideas, recommendations, and strategic discussions. And on a practical level, I’ve been given an innovation space that I’ve always wanted, which means a lot.
AI isn’t slowing down, and I plan to ride this wave for at least the next decade.
My big goal?
To help Wild Tech build and launch our own products, true “Wild Tech Originals” that we can take to market and be proud of.
Prompting more efficiently.
It might sound simple, but great results in AI come from great prompts. Mastering that skill is crucial.
Time management.
A proper time management course changed the way I prioritise life and work, and helped me avoid burnout.
How important public speaking is.
It opens doors, elevates confidence, and builds visibility.
In AI, it’s not just about understanding the technology. You need to understand the process, the customer, the stakeholders, and the real-world problem. That’s where true value is created.
By treating your customers in a way that you want to be treated. That means by standing by your word (and your work), giving sound advice, and focussing on the long-term relationship.
For our size, and what we offer, and how we engage, I know we a truly unique. But if you scratch under the surface, you’ll find that a unique quality is that we don’t shy away from complex projects
Without Customers there is no Wild Tech.
Most memorable moment: The day we outgrew our first office: I was walking into the office, everyone was on the phone, the air was electric. I knew then that we were going places.
What I’m looking forward to: I’m looking forward to seeing what the next 5 years holds. I expect big things from AI and I know that we are well positioned to ride this wave.
One thing I want to emphasise, and this is genuine
I really enjoy what I do: I enjoy my “work”, my role, and the people I work with. Going to the office has never been a chore. How many people can still say that about their job?
